I'm still here...

...and I'm so sorry I've only blogged once in October since we went away for all of September to Scotland and Greece.    I thought I'd better let everyone know that I haven't fallen off the edge of the earth or anything.
Everything is tickety-boo here in my part of the world - I just can't seem find a good way to blog from my iPad.  BlogTouch Pro lets me down every time I load a post and I lose the lot!  So annoying when you've taken time to write words and load pics and then they disappear into the blogasphere!  Grrr!

In the mean time (until we get another PC or lap top), you can catch me on
Instagram as...

I post something most days, be it food or life related.

Just recently, our eldest daughter got married so that was a very
exciting and wonderful time for us.  I do hope to post some pics of that on here one day as my blog has been a fantastic record of my last 10 years, such a great resource for looking up recipes and dates and times we did things.

Shhh, I'm on my work pc! A pic of our family unit  - it was a magnificent, perfect day!
(Bri's partner Michael, Brianna, new son-in-law Nathan, Kirby, and proud mother and father of the bride)
Another love of mine, is watching US homesteading families on YouTube - a great source of information on cooking, baking, farming  and doing things the simple way.  Just yesterday, I made my first jar of sauerkraut so we'll see how that goes by next weekend!  If you want to meet some lovely families who are farming intentionally and living a good, simple life, here are some names of their channels that you can look up.  I find watching these channels instead of real TV is much more relaxing and informative.
~
Art and Bri - Gorgeous family hobby farming in the mountains of North Carolina. Mum, Dad and five delightful kids get amongst goats, chickens, milk cows and the garden.
.
Justin Rhodes - Permaculture chicken ninja!  He and his wife, Rebekah and four kids have dairy cows, chickens, meat birds, veggie gardens.  I get worn out watching all they get up to some days! Again, in the beautiful mountains in North Carolina.
.
Sow the Land - Jason and Lorraine and daughter Penelope, also North Carolina.  Sweet family, Jason is recovered from Lymphoma, living off their piece of land.  He's a woodworker of great talent.  Lorraine makes potions and lotions from natural products.  Always something happening...
.
Lumnah Acres - Al, Gina and daughter Olivia from New Hampshire.    Probably my favourite.  Al starts each vlog off with "Gooood morning, modern steaders!" in his lovely Boston accent and ends with a cheery "join us next time at Lumnah Acres, a guide to modern homesteading, self sufficiency and freedom!".  They have chickens in their chook house called "New Yolk City" and three Nubian Dwarf goats called Willow, Buttercup and Blossom and two dogs, Pluto and Tanner and a cat called Figaro.  After Al's put his daughter on the bus and his wife has headed to work, he does the farm chores then does some handy work of some kind then when Olivia gets home from school, they do the afternoon chores then prepare a tasty evening meal.
.
Weed'em and Reap - DaNelle, Kevin and their kids Ethan and Lydia farm goats, chickens and a turkey called Emu (and his girlfriend Kiwi) on a 1 acre lot in Phoenix, Arizona.  Fun seeing their goat family antics and their day to day goings on.
.
White House on the Hill - Jake & Becky and their 2 boys, Eli and Uriah homestead in Northwest Missouri.  They raise chickens for eggs and meat birds for eating.  They have just recently hatched out an emu chick called Bamoo and have 2 more eggs incubating.  Becky is expecting their 3rd child any day now.

I think all of these guys are on Instagram also so that might be worth a look too.

Anyhoo, I do hope to resume blogging one day and in the mean time, rest assures all is good in my corner of the world!

Cheers - Joolz xx

  2. Joolz, welcome back. Love the wedding photo. Just today I was searching on my iPad for a an app for Blogger as I am going to Melbourne soon but nothing seemed impressive. I wish the Blogger app or something else would be a available for Apple users.

  11. Beautiful. Congratulations on Kirby’s wedding. Blogging seems to be a dying thing. Used to love visiting various blogs and looking into the beautiful lives of so many but seems a lot don’t post anymore. Sad. But this was lovely to see. So many memories. xx
