What I'm reading...

I bought this novel the other day - I want to read more as I haven't for so long.  I think my eyesight was a bit of a problem but I have readers in my glasses now so it seems okay.  I am a few chapters in and am enjoying this - a story of an Irish family who come out to
Australia on free passage and with a promise of a land grant.  Love stories intermingled with hardship I think ... I'll have to keep reading.
~
This one intrigued me so I bought it on my Kobo (similar to a Kindle).
That is next on my list.  Have you got any great reads to share?
~
Others that I have lined up on my Kobo are:

The Orphan Keeper - Camron Wright
Lion - Saroo Brierley
Heart of the Dreaming - Di Morrissey
Kimberley Sun - Di Morrissey
The Lake House - Kate Morton
The Reluctant Midwife - Patricia Harman
Tumbledown Manor - Helen Brown
The Hundred Foot Journey - Richard C Morais
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows
Rhanna - Christine Marion Fraser (I read this whole series of books before I can kids - set in the Scottish Hebrides, love, lust, loss and more)
~
Well that should keep me busy until 2050!

 Hey think about this ...
 2050 is 30 years away ... and 1990 was 30 years ago...
I was 26 in 1990 and I'll be 86 if I see 2050 come around ... but I highly doubt that!

Happy dance....

My copy of The Pioneer Woman Cooks - Food From My Frontier arrived at work just now! It has so many naughty but yummy things to cook in it - can't wait to try some (I might modify the fat content though). I bought it through Fishpond for $24.97 delivered to my door (RRP is $40+)

... and yes, I do do some work while I am in the office... well a little bit!

Slow cooking...

This lovely book arrived in the mail yesterday - I'll be trying out some new recipes soon. We've had a real cold snap with some rain too so it will be nice to come home to a tasty meal, already to go.
~
I've been a bit slack with my Photoaday challenge - some topics are quite hard to get a picture of plus finding the time...
~
I've been hard at it with this dish cloth... can anyone spot the boo boo? I obviously purled instead of plained a long row of stitches.. oh well, it didn't throw the pattern out too much! I have about 4 more patterns to do then I am done!

I thought these products were worth mentioning. I love the EcoStore dishwash liquid - lemony and it washes well. We have been using the hand wash for a while now and (I dilute it to make it go a bit further - don't tell Gus!) and I have just bought the dish tabs ($10 for 30!) and they seem to do a really good job - no streaks or sediment left behind. They also do laundry detergent and stain soaker but I am good in that department at the moment. The jury is still out on the homemade laundry liquid - I think it's okay for underwear and towel loads but I use commercial detergent for other loads.
~
Wet, wild and wooly here today so I had better go get rugged up to go off to work! Stay warm!

Waiting in anticipation...

I pre-ordered Rhonda Jean Hetzel's much awaited book from Fishpond last night. I can't wait for it to arrive ...
~
On the weekend, I pre-ordered Downton Abbey Season 2 - can't wait for that either!
I missed most of the first season as it was on while MasterChef or something was on so it's easier to get the DVD to have on hand so I can watch it whenever. I am currently re-watching Season 1 and loving it all over again.

Peter Rabbit and other tales...

We have a book club that brings books for sale to our dealership. Last week there was a lovely, big hard cover edition of this book for just $25. I had to buy it - I had thoughts of reading aloud to my grand-children in years (many years) to come. I love Peter Rabbit and his friends.
~
I am on the look out for a nice Nursery Rhyme book with all the old rhymes - Jack be nimble, Jack be quick; Wee Willy Winky; Peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold; The owl and the pussy cat - etc.

I placed an order for this book back in mid-July. I'll let you know what I think of it when it arrives.

A little retail therapy....

K17 and I have been shopping in Mt Gambier today. She found shoes to go with her Grad dress and another dress for her 18th at the end of the month. I decked myself out for the Grad as well. Simple black, nothing that stands out from the crowd, thats me! I will be able to wear the pants, cami and jacket many times over. I also bought a pendant to set it all off which has a bit of *bling* factor :)

I bought a book recommended by Bonnie at http://bonnie-simple-beauty.blogspot.com/ so I hope to have an early night and get some of it read before I get too sleepy. It is called You Sexy Mother - a Life changing approach to motherhood. Bonnie has reviewed the first chapter and it sounds worth a read.

'A' is away tonight to I think I will hit the hay at 9pm (after Spicks n Specks), slather on some good moisturiser, rub my tired feet with peppermint foot lotion and get stuck into it. I can tape everything else on TV and watch it on the weekend.
Have a good one - Cheers, Joolz
