Overnight glamp in Ruby...

Our first port of call was Beachport to get some mozzie repellant, barby tongs and some juice for breakfast.  We also stocked up on beverages at the pub.  I have these wonderful Govino plastic wine glasses, one of which was screaming to be filled for the journey.  Chilled Tasmanian pinot noir for the navigator!
~
~
We arrived in Robe and drove out to our camp site.  The coast is only 500 metres away so we had a look there before setting up.
~
Very pretty coastline - pity the weather turned gloomy!
~
~
Back down the track to our site.
 ~
We had booked online and paid $14 for Site 1 - its elevated and enclosed on all sides so its nice and sheltered. We were the only ones there.
~
Here's Ruby all set up...
~
Ablutions area - most important!
~
The rear of camp - we have our Oz Pig fire for warmth and our BabyQ gas barby and a gas stove for cooking and heating water. I forgot to bring our Thermos - great to have on hand for late night feet  and face washing (and hot water bottles when its really cold).
~
Onto the food - Gus chose to do these prawns for our entree, although we didn't do kebabs, just pan fried them as our prawns were smaller.
~
Very simple to do...
~
The chef...
~
We lit the pig so we'd be warm...
~
Gus started on our entrees...
~
Yummy!
~
Main course was lamb cutlets with a lemon, parsley gremolata and pan roasted vegetables...
~
potatoes and carrots went into the BabyQ to start roasting...
~
The gremolata was put together (I bought bread crumbs from home)...
~
The pig has lovely coals happening - throwing out lots of heat...
~
Gus coloured up the cutlets on the grill...
~
Then the gremolata was added...
~
...then they go back on top of the potatoes, carrots, zucchini and cherry tomatoes to roast until cooked.
~
Oh, delicious!
~
To top off the meal, we later had Cointreau strawberries, cream and a smashed Twirl chocolate for dessert.
~
My Govino glasses came in handy!
~
We sat in front of the pig until nearly midnight then called it a night...
~
Next morning we woke to rain drops on our tent - not good! We got up and the rain got heavier until we just had to sit and wait...
~
It eased off so we lit the pig and started breakfast...
~
Gus cooked the bacon and toasted the bread...
~
...and I scrambled eggs with chives and parmesan...
~
A great camp breakfast - my sour dough was so tasty!
~
We'll definitely come back to the Stony Rise camp ground.  The weather warmed up and out tent was 95% dry and we were all packed up by 12 noon.
~
We went to Sky Seafoods and bought some fish for dinner and treated ourselves to a crayfish (rock lobster) to have for lunch.  I totally forgot to take pictures of our crayfish, lettuce and seafood dressing sandwiches that I made when we got home!
~
We spent the rest of the day carefully washing and packing away our camp gear, ready for next time.  Gus put up the tent again and dried it and the awning properly so it won't go moldy and put a sprinkler under Ruby to remove any salt water from the beach.
~
We had never heard of boar fish but were told it was a great fish (thanks, Marg!).  Gus pan fried it in oil and a little butter - it was beautiful and tasty.
~
Boy did we sleep well last night!

Beetroot, cookies and dinner on a cray boat...

I have had a busy week, working full time 9 til 5 as our office manager has been on annual leave. I usually start at 10 or 10.30 and finish at 4pm if everything has been done. The house feels like its upside down but its mainly a load or two of washing that needs doing and a good tidy. Bri did the floors for me yesterday so that was a big help.
~
I am back at work this morning for a few hours then I will get home to boil and pickle some more beetroot.  I am down to my last jar...
~
Unfortunately, this is not garden fresh but bought from the supermarket but it still pickles well.
~

Bri seems fully recovered from her wisdom teeth extractions, apart from a bit of jaw tenderness.  I have tried to make soft foods for her this week.  This was a macaroni beef dish from Annette Sym (before I topped it with the white cheese sauce).

~
We've been back juicing...
~
Homemade pizzas for dinner last night...
~
My sister, Janine, gave me these little affirmation cards for Christmas (for making the family Christmas pudding).  They are so cute.
~
I might share one with you each Monday as a thought for the week ahead...
~

As I mentioned, I have had pantry moths so I bought some traps - 2 for $12.  I set it up it in my pantry on Monday and...
~

Success!  I caught one!  It will be interesting to see if there are any more or if he was a lone moth!  The little rubber lure has a sex pheremone that lures the moth to the very sticky trap.  Ingenious!
~
Brianna found these cookies she wants me to make - they sound divine.

~
This evening, we will dine on a cray boat with our friend Pam and some others who were there last year.  I am taking warm clothes to rug up in as it gets really cold at the marina.
