Escargot, Mademoiselle?

On our last day in Paris, we visited Sacre-Coeur - the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After marvelling at this lovely Roman Catholic church, we wandered through the streets, souvenier shopping. We found a lovely little restaurant (Le Consulat) and had our last french meal. For entree - Escargot - or snails to us!
~
Slippery little suckers to get out of the shells - covered in parsley and garlic butter.
~
Brianna (rocking le French beret) considers it...
~
Will she, won't she ?
~
Oui, oui - I shall take ze plunge!
~
Ooh, that's different!
~
Mmm, not bad! I'll have another one, thanks!

Oopsey's Adventures...

Oopsey was super excited about leaving Australia for her big trip around the UK and Europe. We had to spend some time waiting before our flight at the hotel at Melbourne International Airport before we could check in at the departures counter. We left Australia at 2.40am!
~
She found some new friends in the Duty Free shop at the airport.
We took some souveniers for our Italian friends. Kenny Koala and Kelly Kangaroo are destined for Turin, Italy.
~
I packed Oops in a plastic bag for safe keeping.
~
Here she is chillin' after the first leg of our trip at Kuala Lumpur airport. She was glad to get out of that bag! The airport was very hot and steamy.
~
Here we are leaving Dubai airport, bound for London!
~
Oopsey flopped on the couch as soon as we got to our hotel in London (Hyde Park Square)
~
Oopsey helped Kirby navigate for Angus as we left London in our hire car.
~
"Turn right", says Oops!
~
We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Crown & Trumpet pub in Broadway, UK. Can you spot Ooopsey?
~
The Leaning Tower of Pisa was unbelievable! Construction of this masterpiece started in 1173 (837 years ago!). You can read more about it here.
~
Space was at a minimum at our hotel room in Rome!
~
Oopsey met a friend at the top of the Eiffel Tower - his name is Pokey!
~
|Oopsey thought the tower was pretty cool!
~
The sign shows how far away from Australia we are - half way around the world away!
~
After France we headed to Singapore and we went to the Singapore Zoo - it was fantastic. It is a free-roaming zoo so all the animals are clearly on display and it is really up close and personal. We saw lions, white tigers, cheetahs, penguins, sea-lion, manatees, otters, zebras, elephants having a swim, chimpanzees, orang-utans, monkeys, tapirs and Kirby and Brianna got to feed a giraffe.
~
This is Oopsey's new friend, Ranga! We are safely back home now. Oopsey would like to see other parts of the world. Would you like to host her for a little while before she goes back to Queensland, Australia to her family? Let me know in the comments box if you'd like to have her visit you.

Hello from Roma...

Hello all,
finally have time to stop and say G'day! We are
half way through our trip, having taken in the sights in Dubai, London & the Midlands/Cotswolds, Milan, Turin, Lake Como, Florence, Pisa and now Rome.
I am writing this in a laundrette in down town Rome, watching about 6 loads of washing go around.
It was lovely to finally meet up with our Brianna again this morning after being separated for 3 weeks while she was on her school tour. We are 'la famiglia' again!
All in all, we have had a wonderful trip so far. So many good memories and wonderful sights.
Haven't had time to put up photos yet but will try and do so when we reach Positano on the Amalfi Coast.

Oopsey Update : Oopsey has been with us the whole way and I have photos of her at the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Stay tuned!
=
For now, I will say arriverderci and see you soon,

Cheers - Joolz

PS : I am having blog withdrawal, big time!
