We left the girls at midday, went and did a quick shop for groceries then headed for the riverland.
We had lunch at Talunga Estate in Gumeracha. A very ordinary ploughman's platter, poor wait service and generally a let down because the setting was so nice.
We got seated then it was a good 20 minutes before they got our drinks order then a further 15 minutes before they eventually arrived. We ordered the platter and were told that they had run out of pork pies that are usually on it. They said they'd add extra cheese and ham. The platter finally came with 4 tiny slices of bread, not crusty, four thin skices of ham, the prepackaged kind and a whole pickle onion cut into quarters. Four slices of gouda, a small chunk of cheddar and a piece of blue cheese, a teaspoon of HP sauce and very hot, take your breath away English mustard and a little pot of lettuce leaves.
I will admit, it tasted okay but it was not worth $32.00!! To top it off, the bumbling waiter took our second drink order and that just never arrived so he gave us our first two drinks on the house. Wouldn't bother going again.
Anyway, we made our way to Walker Flat and found Hettner Landing which had riverside camp sites. We bought a bit of firewood at the store then set up camp.
Beer time!
Gus grilled chicken tender strips and I made a caeser salad for dinner.
The OzPig provided bush TV for a while then it was off to bed.
