My new camera...

This is my new fangled camera which has been taking nice photos for me. I am still working out all the settings but it is pretty user friendly. It has an 18x Optical Zoom, 27mm wide, 10 mega pixel lens and too many knobs and switches to mention. Most of the sunset photos were taken on AutoFocus - so just point and shoot. Nice!
I am lucky to have a great husband who bought it for me.

39 Degrees Celcius then to the beach....

After a very hot day at work, we packed the car with a bbq tea and headed for the beach at Southend. This is B15 and her friend M14 frollicking in the waves.
Clowning around in the shallows. Very cooling.
K18 took this photo, love the water flick!
A pair of bathing beauties sunning themselves in the dunes.
Time for a bit of high-flying dune leaping! Who has the energy??
A quiet talk between friends..or giggling more like!
We had lamb schazliks, sausages, red noodle salad, satay rice and tossed green salad. Posh for the beach I know, but it was very yummy.
This is our BabyQ Weber barbecue. It is ideal for the beach and the lid keeps the sand out if the winds blowing and it keeps the meat hot after you turn it off. Fabbo!
As the sun started to sink lower, I started taking photos of the sunset. It started out a bright yellow and at this stage it was still very hot. Not real sure of the time but it must have been about 8pm.
Still talking and giggling...
...the waves kept rolling in, the sun getting a deeper yellow...
...almost down over the point at Southend....
...ooops, this one should have been above, either that or the sun has risen higher again...
...the colours were amazing....
...typical women, still talking...
...the clouds put on a wonderful display....
...this was the end result....
Just beautiful...
...they stopped talking just long enough to pose....
the heat had finally gone out of the day. We stayed until way after dark, just watching the sea then made our way home through the sand dunes via Bevelaqua's Track. We are so lucky that the beach is only 20 minutes from our house.
Hope all you other South Aussies stayed cool today.

About that linen closet.....

I'll admit straighout - I didn't quite get to the linen closet but all my Christmas deccies are tucked away and the family room is back to normal.
I have got B15's school books all covered, labelled and put away in preparation for Yr 10 when Term 1 starts on January 28th (OMG thats 16 days away!) I am a sucker for brand new stationery so I get my kicks once a year when the girls go back to school. I love Contacting their books and labelling everything, it has never been chore for me. :) And yes, that glass of wine is mine and it was after 4pm!
We are in for a stinker tomorrow - about 36degsC and Adelaide is expecting 41degsC! I think we are going to the 3 Mile at Beachport for a BBQ tea with friends. Hope it cools off by then.

Cape Jaffa Seafood & Wine Festival....

Oh, dear...this photo should be last. At the end of a very long day, on the bus home!
A very relaxing day spent with good company (great friends).

Gus and Big Dudda!

Just some of the lovely food we enjoyed all day.
The Cape Jaffa Seafood and Wine Festival is held at Cape Jaffa in the SE of South Australia each January. About 3,000 people enjoyed the fantastic weather, food, wine and music in a very relaxed atmosphere. You should join us next year!

I'm on a mission....

This is my mission today - to tidy my linen closet which is showing clear neglect. It is a great little room to toss stuff when there is no other place for it at the time you need to toss it!
My other mission is to take down the Christmas tree and decorations and tidy through the 'good room'. B15 has made it her 'Wii den' of late and it is showing signs of wear and tear.
The weather today here today is fantastic - clear blue sky and bright sunshine.... the garden beckons but I must do those inside jobs first. Lets see how I go.
Have a lovely weekend, won't you?
Cheers - Joolz
PS: I am trying to revamp my site but we are still without a PC at home so it may take a wee while.

Boxing Day Test...

We watched Australia v South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Boxing Day. Ricky Ponting made a century, the crowd was entertaining and a good day was had by all.
This is Brianna and Kirby with their cousins, Sam, Max and Jed.
Pity Australia didn't win!

Happy New Year...

Southend
Chilling out after a BBQ lunch
Happy New Year to all my friends, family and fellow bloggers! Our NYE was spent quietly at home. Both our girls headed in separate directions for the evening and that left 'A' and I home alone. Earlier in the evening, we had a few drinks with a friend who was back in town seeing his family. It was nice to catch up. Later, we cooked a couple of steaks, ate dinner then settled in to watch Dark Knight. 'A' is a big Batman fan! I lasted until just after midnight then I had to retire!

We spent yesterday down at Southend, a little seaside port not far from where we live. We took a barbeque lunch and sat with friends and enjoyed a great afternoon. Next year, we have decided to go camping for New Years Eve down to a special spot called Number 2 Rocks. It is a little horse-shoe bay about 1 hours drive from our town, through sandhills by four-wheel-drive. We have had many good days there - the kids can play on the quiet beach (mine are no longer into sandcastle building) and the water doesn't get too deep or rough because there is a reef further out which stops the big waves.
Best wishes for a safe, happy & healthy 2009 to
you and your loved ones.
