I’m trying to grow a new sourdough starter, with little success it would seem. Patience, is what it takes, I am told. Today is day 6 (this pic is day 3)...still waiting for good bubbles...
I had a great walk on Monday 13/11 but was so tires Monday night, I think I’ll peel it back a bit.
Tuesday, with Gus...
I’ll talk more about these goodies a bit later...

Oh, yum! My moozli, grated apple, my yoghurt and a drzzle of honey...
It was 34C and muggy here yesterday. Steak and salads hit the spot!
I’m being kind to my liver. A morning cleanse - 30 mls cranberry juice...
...plus 60 mls fresh orange juice...
...and 90 mls of water. Drink first thing in the morning.
I love where I live! A hot 34C yesterday, this morning it’s pouring rain and 20C! Very refreshing!
Cheers - Joolz xx
Joolz, did your starter from Celia die? I have dried some of mine as backup in case my Gertrude decides to fizzle out. So far so good though.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid Sally Starter did pass away! I had been quite neglectful and she just wouldn't rally.
DeleteI also dried some of Sally but it wouldn't revive either so I am using the recipe out of my new sourdough book.
Things are looking up today so I think by Friday, I'll be making dough and watching it rise! :)
Salad is perfect for hot days, that's for sure. We always have one or more in tubs in the fridge. This week I made a quinoa salad with lots of roasted veg in it and then tonight I made a pasta salad with corn, peas, grated carrot and capsicum. Lots of leftover for lunch too. Hmmm...where are all those goodies off to? Meg:)
ReplyDeleteHi Meg,
DeleteHave you tried using risoni pasta for a salad. I make one which is in this blog post...

Hope your sourdough starter works soon. I’ve finally booked a sourdough workshop in for January. Can’t wait to go and learn.
ReplyDeleteI start my day with warm water and lemon juice. First thing that hits my tummy.
High temperatures here too then a lot of rain last night and temps dropped dramatically. Heading for a lot more rain today. Garden is certainly happy.

Our lawns will be so green after this rain, not to mention 4 foot high! I guess I should have said that I kick start my liver with that drink, more than cleanse.
DeleteI think the starter is coming good and certainly smelled better this morning with bubbles happening. Hopefully, baking by Friday.
You sound very healthy, that steak and salad looked very appetising. It’s just cold here now, cold and damp xx
ReplyDeleteOh, Cheryl! It's cold and damp here too today. It's 13C and pouring rain and windy! Spring, pffft!
