Mother's Day weekend...

I headed to Adelaide Friday afternoon....
~
Now have a look at this gorgeous couple!  Kirby and Nate were off to the Royal Flying Doctor Gala Ball just as I arrived.    Nate was doing his best James Bond impression...
~
I had an evening alone until Bri got home from her late shift...
~
Next morning, I knocked up a loaf of Chadd's Bread...
~

It is the best white loaf I have ever made and I kneaded it by hand!  It was soft and yummy and still good two days later...
~
Saturday afternoon, we went to watch Kirby play netball!  So many people there - all the mums must have been out supporting their daughters!
~
Here's Kirby defending her opponent...
~
After the game, we headed to Burnside Village to OPSM so I could pick out some glasses. I am partial to Oroton ones as they are very well made.  My current glasses have not needed tightening or adjustment since I got them over 2 years ago.  I picked these and had them sent to the Mount Gambier OPSM (who don't stock Oroton frames), where I'll have my eye test next week.
~
Once Gus arrived Saturday night, we went out to dinner.
~
We tried a lovely Californian wine...very nice!
~
We had several tasting plates to share.  That seems to be the norm in a lot of restaurants these days.  I love it as I like to try different things but wouldn't be able to eat a whole dish.

Happy Mother's Day to my dear mum xxx
~
The girls and I participated in the Adelaide Mother's Day Classic (fundraising for Breast Cancer research) on Sunday morning.  We did the 4.3 km walk which saw us walk through the Adelaide parklands.
~
It was a dreary overcast morning but the rain stayed away and the cool conditions suited me perfectly!
~
~
Here we are on the way...
~
We stopped and had a picture with the Big Pink Truck!
~

Start time 8.43, finish time 9.33am
~
Next year we will do the 7km walk (I will need to get a bit fitter for that!)...
~

After the walk, the girls took me out to breakfast...
~

Ballaboosta is in Hutt Street and the food is seriously good.  This was my Ballaboosta Breakfast which was basically and ham, cheese, tomato and egg flat bread - so yummy and just the right size for breakfast!

My girls spoiled me with a this fantastic bread/chopping board (which will never get chopped on!) and the paper book that I hinted for from Kikki K.  It's full of bits and pieces that can be used when entertaining - place cards, labels, stickers, note paper, wrap, etc.  Love, love it all!
~
The bread board is from

in Wales.
Kirby said it arrived promptly so if you are after a gift with a difference, they have many gift ideas...
~
Bri had a night shift to do so she was sleeping all afternoon, Kirby was tapping away on the laptop catching up on some work so I go to and had a baking frenzy! First up, sausage rolls...
~
Next, with the left over pastry, some jam puffs...
~

Then some Brookies...
~
This Jam Coconut Slice is so good - use any flavour jam...

Then finally, after a full afternoon of kitchen slaving, I made Quick Chicken Tacos for dinner which we all love.  So easy and quick to prepare...

That pretty much sums up my weekend.  It was back home to Milli on Monday and straight back to work...
I had a lovely Mother's day, I hope you did to.

This is a quote from Clare at the lovely
http://thelifeofclare.com.au/mothers-day/

"I just wanted to take some time to acknowledge those who went without their mum’s yesterday, those who are in the position of mum’s, step mum’s, aunties, grandma’s, dad’s. I want to give a though to those who want to be a mum and who can’t, and those who once were and have lost their loves. I didn’t much realise the significance of Mother’s Day until I became one myself and put a little more thought into it."

  1. What a great weekend this sounds like. A bit like your Jam Coconut Slice...sweet, a lot of love went into it, and jam packed. :) Love the bread board! You could use the back side for cutting maybe.

    1. It has Happy Mothers Day 2016 on the back. I'll use it as a bread board for cut slices or my bread rolls... :)
