I had to have Bonnie put to sleep yesterday. She had deteriorated overnight, could barely walk, her face paralyzed and I suspect she was nearly blind. It wasn't fair to keep going with treatment involving cortizone this coming week with no real idea if it would work or not. She had made no improvement these past 2 weeks at all.

Goodbye to our dear Bonnie cat...she was the best mouser and a tough little cat, gone to chase birds somewhere better xxx

She's buried down the back of our block, under a gum tree, with Monte and Clyde who have gone before her.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I always enjoyed seeing her in the blog. You have some great photos to remember her by.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs, Joolz. I know how sad it is to lose a beloved pet who has become part of the family.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry Joolz. Losing a dear pet is very hard to deal with. You have great photos of her life and achievements.
ReplyDeleteHi Joolz, so story you had to put Bonney to sleep, that's always sad as pets are so much part of your family.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about sweet Bonney. She looked to be a beautiful girl.

Always a sad decision to make but better than wondering if they are suffering and we don't know. Bonnie and my Rascal can exchange mousing stories in the hereafter :). He was 17, and still catching mice, when he let me know he'd had enough life and we did the final trip to the vet.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. I knew she'd never recover so it was the kindest thing to do. xx
