To Coonawarra and homemade pasta and sauce...

Kirby has enjoyed a nice, chilled weekend home. Sunday we decided to go to Coonawarra for lunch at a favourite spot of ours, Fodder.

We shared 3 small dishes and shared a garden fresh pizza. We also shared 2 desserts between the three of us.

We took Blue for a fang!

Pesto dumplings...

Simple flavours ...

Garlic prawns from the woodfired oven...

Thai flavoured pork baby back ribs and vegetable pickle...

Their own wine brand, Ottelia, has a lovely cabernet sauvignon and pinot gris...

We chose the Summer on a Plate pizza to share...

No meat, just garden fresh veggies...

Middle Eastern orange and almond cake with an amazing marmaladey sauce...

Just beautiful fresh, flavoursome food!

We called in at Redman wines - they've won a few awards over the years!

Bowen Estate...then it was time for home. We stocked up on i gredients for our dinner at the IGA in Penola...

Kirby found a Spicy Sausage pasta sauce recipe... Italian pork sausages and pork mince...

Onion, carrot, celery, garlic, chilli flakes, fresh oregano - whizzed in the food processor, so easy...

Brown the mince then remove from the pan...

Soften the vegetables...

Add 200mls red wine...

Add 2 tblspns tomato paste and 2 cans chopped tomatoes. Cover and bubble away for 1-2 hours...

(Old pic from blog showing my pasta machine)

We made fresh fettucine - 300gms pasta flour (with semolina), 2 eggs and 1 tblspn olive oil. Whizz in food processor and add a little water to make it come together (maybe 2 tblspns). Tip onto the bench and knead until smooth. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.

(Old blog pic - forgot to take a pic)
The pasta went through the machine really well...
Tah dah - fettucine...
~

I cooked the pasta in rolling boiling water for about 4-5 minutes and it was perfect...

No preservatives in this dish! The sauce had a new ce chilli kick but not too hot. Served with my crusty bread rolls.

Cheers - Joolz xx
