Well the start of this year has been a lot better than the last week of 2012! We have been taking it very quietly though.

As I said, my Mum had a fall on Christmas Day and gashed her had on some brick pavers. This pic was taken on the Friday after Christmas. Poor love, she will need a skin graft in the coming weeks (once we can book into the surgeon after all these holidays). Mum is going into respite care for a time until her hand is fully mended as she can't shower or look after herself with meals etc.

The other drama we had happened on Sunday 30th - my dearly beloved ended up having an ambulance ride to the emergency department of Mt.G hospital. We were on our way to our favourite beach spot with friends when he became unwell and thought maybe he was having a heart attack. We started driving back in to town (35 kms out) then he said he thought he needed an ambulance so Bri had to ring 000 and organise the ambulance while I kept driving. The ambo's met us about 14kms out of Mt.G and took over care of him. He spent 5 hours in the ED but all blood tests and ECG's came back clear, showing no sign of heart attack or stroke. He was still quite unwell and uncomfortable when he was discharged but having ruled out any problems, they have to discharge you. He had a decent nights sleep and went to work on Monday 31st but had another little turn (feeling unable to swallow properly and draw breath with ease - which panics him) at work so booked into a GP. Further tests are needed so for now he is just taking it very easy.

We had to cancel our NYE celebrations with friends in Adelaide - too risky for Gus to travel far. Oh, well, maybe next year! We spent the night here, Me and Bri had a few wines and Gus went off to bed early.

So you can see it's been a bit full on here. 2013 is here now - I just hope things go along smoothly for us, we normally don't have many dramas in our lives!

Wishing you all the best for a safe, healthy and happy year ahead!
Cheers - Joolz
I hope things improve Joolz and am glad that your husband sounds like he will be OK.
ReplyDeleteTake care and happy new year to you too.
Oh my goodness how scary for you!!! You poor thing you really are having a rough time lately!
ReplyDeleteI hope hubby is ok and gets the all clear. I hate how they discharge you when you still feel terrible and there is obviously something wrong even if they can't find it, it really worries me.
When my hubby had back problems back in 2010 they wanted to discharge him when he couldn't even walk without doubling over in pain!! I jumped up and down and made them keep him in for a CT scan which they hadn't even bothered to do.
I sincerely which you all the best for the new year and hope that Gus gets better very soon and it is just a virus type thing which has caused his illness.
Hugs to you all
Colleen
