Gorgeous Sunday at home...

It started off with a sleep in until 8am, then I got up and had a coffee, perused the internet and did a couple of rows of the dish cloth I'm knitting...
~
It's been a beautiful spring day here, bright sunshine and a light breeze.  Just before lunch, we loaded up the ute with any hard rubbish we could find then headed to my Mum's to get rid of a few pots and things she didn't want in her garden.  Then we went to our local Refuse/Recycling centre.  It's the first time I had been there.  Very well organised - there are stations for timber/wood products; scrap metal, recyclable cardboard/paper/plastics; household hard rubbish, disused electrical good on working (which get stripped down); stone/masonary and green waste.  This centre is manned by one guy who directs people to each site/dumpster.  Then it is carted away for recycling.  And it's a free service by our local Council!  Quite amazing!

Back home, Gus got busy on the ride-on, tidying up our little blocks each side of the house and the biggger block behind.  Trying to lower the risk of snakes.  We have 2 sheep but they don't seem to be eating the grass down quick enough.
~
I bought some tomato plants last weekend and more today so I got to and planted them out.  We are not quite ready with out veggie garden so they just got planted in tubs.  Not quite sure when we will develop that veggie garden???
~
In this tub there is Roma, Apollo and Gross Lisse...
~

In here, Pot Toms, Pink Pearl (which is a Breast Cancer sponsored plant), large fruit truss and Apollo...
~
I planted out another hanging tomato planter.  I had quite good success a few years ago with one of these.  You can see it here ...
~
I planted 4 different cherry tomatoes in here - Cherry Bites, Cherry Ripe, Sweet Bites and a Patio Cherry...and some sweet basil too.
~
I will hang it under our pergola where I hope it will get enough sun...
~
This is a Dwarf Red Fig cherry tomato...
~
My McLeod's Daughters rose is ready to pop!
~
and my (instert name because I can't remember it) gorgeous pink rose...
(found it, it is a  Delbard Bordure Rose (Delcoussi)
~
This is me trying to trim the wool from our pet sheep, Dj's eyes!  He was not co-operating!
~
He kept butting his head and pulling away everytime I tried to snip the wool...
~
I finally got it done.  He is due to be shorn any time soon.  We just have to organise for our brother-in-law to do it and it's a bit of an effort to get him in the back of a ute!  He protests loudly with a BAAAAAAHH!
~
We are all finished for the day, having a wine now.  This was our sunset, beautiful colours.  Tandoori burgers for dinner and a free-form apple pie for dessert!
I love gorgeous Sunday's like this!
Cheers - Joolz

  1. Can I make a wee little suggestion...? You might want to move your tomatoes into separate pots, cos those three are going to be HUGE together in that tub...!!!!!

  2. Thanks for the tip, I did think I might be over crowding them a bit. Will get some more pots! Thanks!

  4. Could a Sunday be any better? Apparently tomato plants can do okay in about a 30cm pot, and I am very much hoping that is right cos that is all I have for mine :) Your roses are going to look incredible

  5. A lovely day, indeed! I like the way you wake up and get into your day. I, too, like to sit here at the keyboard in my jammies with my first cup of coffee and check into the world via Internet. :)
