I had some 'old' brown bananas in my fruit bowl (the one above was past using) so I decided to make this delicious Banana Bread from Hannah's blog Honey & Jam. This young lady (she's 20 years old now but her blog started when she was 18) has an amazing photography and baking blog.

And here, I will apologize for the 'up the nose' shot, but just thought I'd show you my lovely cold sore inflamed lips. This is the second bout I have had since mid February and this last lot manifested on Sunday. I have never had cold sores in my life before this. The constant pain can be likened to kissing your clothes iron while it is turned on!!! Hot, stingy, itchy and weeping (and yes I have been too). I have a new found admiration for anyone who suffers a skin condition.
I finally went to the doctors yesterday when I realised they just weren't getting better after 5 days. I have taken a course of Famvir (just 3 tablets taken all at once) and Phenergan 25mg tablets (an antihistimine) in the evening, to relieve the itching and it also knocks you out pretty well.
~
I can feel that they are tightening up today, with less weeping, so I guess the healing has begun, but they are still so sore and I feel miserable and I do not want to venture outside the house as I look like The Joker in Batman!

I think a day on the couch is in order.

Ah, banana bread. It'll be time to make that here soon. :) So sorry about the inflamed lips. That certainly isn't fun!
ReplyDeleteYour BB looks delish!
ReplyDeleteOuch re the lips. Touch wood never had one before, would aloe vera soothe?
I have tried several things during the week but I think that has 'confused' things.
ReplyDeleteI have used Virasolve which numbs the lips, Paw Paw ointment, Vaseline and Calendular cream (which promotes wound healing).
Today am keeping up with Virasolve and calendular just around the edge to lubricate them. They are improving slightly but jeepers they are sore!

I've got a black banana like that, but sadly it is the only banana in the house, so not enough to make banana bread, maybe if I halve the recipe and make muffins instead. Will think about that for tomorrow. Cold sores are certainly no joke, they look rather sore, hopefully they are on the mend now.
ReplyDeleteYour banana bread looks lovely, I'm sure it was delicious! Hope your cold sore clears up soon, it sounds quite painful.
ReplyDeleteI will make some banana bread next week to get rid of all those bananas in the freezer, yours look good.
ReplyDeleteYour lips do look sore, hope they get better soon,
Gill
I can smell the banana bread from here :0)
ReplyDeleteI have never had a cold sore either and hope I never do but Daryl has them and has ever since I have known him. He gets them when stressed, from being in the sun( and getting a little burned) or wind anything really when conditions change. Hope yours heal soon and they don't re occur.
