My neice, Bianca made some of these the other day for her neice, Miss Rylee, so I thought I'd give them a go. You can microwave these (1 takes 30 seconds I found) but I thought baking was better.
First, cover a muffin tray with foil and make a hole to sit the cones in. This stops them toppling over.

...fill them with a really large tablespoonful of mixture (next time, up to that inside rim would be best, now I know they won't explode over the sides too much) ...

Pretty cool, huh? Or do I just have too much time on my hands? I love doing things like this, though.

These are going to be demolished by a group of 16 year olds at school tomorrow when Brianna takes them for her best friend, Maddy who is turning 16! Happy Birthday, Mads!

Now onto making a casserole for netball teas tomorrow night. Bri is going to chop and prepare it then we'll toss it in the slow cooker.

I do like cupcakes - so versatile. I just wondered: didn't the ice cream cones go a bit floppy in the m'wave
ReplyDeleteAngie: No, the one I did in the microwave for 30 seconds was still crisp and the cake perfectly cooked through. Quite amazing. But you do get a better finish by baking them.
ReplyDeleteJoolz :)
I made and blogged these awhile ago as think they are a brillaint awesome invention!
ReplyDeleteI too do them in the oven, but stand the cones in a muffin tin instead.
Italian Meringue is great for topping them too to look like "real dairy whip".
I have once but I usually just ice them and sprinkles.
Hey I got PW'S book for Mothers day!
Yahooooo
These are sooo neat! I'm going to make them with my grandkidlets when I get home next month.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Lois
Ahhh. what a great idea! These would be perfect for the older children to make after school, or during school holidays!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!!
Very cute, and the cones would be edible as well, so no cupcake wrappers around the place, good idea.
ReplyDeleteHad to pull Bo in for this one!!!! Comment? SUPER CUTE!!!! We will be trying this one for some of our younger friends! Love it, Joolz. :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh...I'm trying this!! Beautiful...and sooo clever.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
Love,
Jackie
I haven't done this in a long time since my boys were little.....but they are so easy and great for kids (big and small):0)
ReplyDeleteIt is getting casserole weather now isn't it.
The microwave ones are an experience not to be missed, we love them.
ReplyDeleteLove them! So versatile and mess free.
