... so we took a drive to Coonawarra and had lunch at Upstairs at Hollick, a fantastic restaurant nestled among the vines. I had roasted lamb backstrap on a white bean puree with a shiraz jus, plus a confit of lamb with rocket salad. Kirby had duck breast with spiced cherries and mushrooms. Angus had Beachport Snapper on a bed of polenta and vegies and Brianna had a pasta dish with prawns, chorizo and a napoli sauce. Dessert was a steamed lemon pudding with passionfruit semi freddo and cream and a dark chocolate tart with cream and peanut brittle. Seriously good food. Burp! (Pardon me?)

After enjoying lunch, we visited Penley Estate and bought 6 bottles of wine to put down for a few years. Angus had better hide them well! He has a wine fridge which keeps the red wine at a constant temperature and I am not even allowed to open the door let alone consume the contents!

Back to work tomorrow - with month end to tackle I have to reconcile the wages etc and send out the debtor statements. That should keep me busy for a while.

Yum, the lamb backstrap sounds nice, as does the dark chocolate tart. You have just reminded me that I need to make a start on my BAS although it is not due for a while yet. The word verification is excess :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful meal and excess does describe it well!
ReplyDeleteJoolz :D
Happy New Year Joolz. hope it's a good one.
ReplyDeleteThe break is over for another year. Sadly everything will back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteOh well there will be another one later in the year again!
Lunch sounds great! Wineries have a great atmosphere....I worked in one for three years and it never felt like work!
ReplyDeleteJoolz what a great lunch and you cannot resist wine when it is in the house :0) put a lock on the wine fridge....lol.
ReplyDeleteBugger going back to work but it has to be done..unless we win lotto
Have a great week
Debbie
