Spring garden gets a Summer frizzling...

My roses have gone berserk in the past week or so with all the hot weather. No chance to enjoy lovely rosebuds for a few days as they open. All the blooms just expoded open.
*
This is my lovely McLeod's Daughters rose - the softest apricot with feathery petals.
*
These are carpet roses and they have gone crazy!

Sunset over the back fence.

This carpet rose was a lot more 'hot pink' last year, they seem to be paler this year. I'll have a fair bit of 'dead-heading' to do before Christmas! Eek - it's my turn to host Christmas at our house this year!!
*
In for a hot day of 36C today! Not as bad as poor Tania in Port Augusta - 46C yesterday and 47C today with catastrophic weather warnings in force. When will this weather stop?

Cheers - Joolz

  3. I won't show you pictures of my roses Joolz for obvious reasons, yours are looking lovely though. I only have a couple planted because of the heat, too hard to keep them going.

At last I think it will be cooler here tomorrow, I think 37 or 38C, then 26C on Saturday....it has been the longest two weeks ever.

At least I have got to read all my favourite blogs (and some new ones) and leave comment for just about all of them....amazing!

  7. Your roses are gorgeous! Mine have gone crazy too with the heat, and the Abraham Lincoln especially, smells just heavenly!

A much cooler day today - we're only due to hit 27, though the house is still fairly hot from yesterday.
But compared to Tania? Ooooh! I just hope she can find a way to stay cool!
Fingers crossed for a cooler weekend!!

  10. My rose photos show odd dead bits, so I didn't post them on Sunday. My arch here where I am Renaes had more roses than it has ever had, but now is an arch full of things needing dead heading. I think I lost them all at once.

I love the bottle brushes this year.
