Washed out!

We didn't get much more rain overnight and it was calm this morning. I took this at 6.41am...

By late morning, the rain had set in and things were getting very soggy.

We got out okay but with more rain, it is going to get harder to get out of camp.
We drove to Cadell and ended up at Caudo Vineyard where we had a nice platter for lunch...again!

This is a lovely spot on the river bend. I can imagine it would be a hopping and bopping place on a nice sunny day. When we left the rain was steady and unrelenting. We went back to Waikerie to gather dinner supplies...

Back at camp, we slooshed our way in and got Ruby positioned ready to hitch up in the morning. The road is so sludgey, we got a bit sideways!

Gus reckons my wet mats are the best $60 I have ever spent. They really do keep you up and out of the mud and water...

That's the road we need to get out on but since I took this picture, it's more like a lake!

Well, its been pouring all afternoon and into the evening with no let up. Dinner is bought to you by Continental. It's a dish we've been making for ever...we used to call it Chicken Fettucini Verde but Continental discontinued that flavour long ago so we use Alfredo now...

Brown a rasher of bacon in a fry pan, followed by a sliced up chicken breast...Add in the sachet with milk, water and dob of butter and simmer until pasta is tender. Add in half a red capsicum, simmer for 5 minutes longer. Toss in a handful of chopped cashews and a sprinkle of dry parsley and crack of salt and pepper...

Dinner is served! Quite yummy and it hit the spot. Not being able to barbecue or bake in the BabyQ Weber hinders what we can cook, a bit. Tummies are full now and we have a mountain of Haighs Easter choccies for dessert. After spending all afternoon cooped up, I think we'll have an early night! Finger crossed the thunderstorm that is forecast doesn't come through! Let's see what tomorrow brings...

Cheers - Joolz xx
