Thai Green curry...

We had such a muggy day here yesterday...36C and afternoon thunderstorms...

-

For dinner, I tried one of Marion Grasby’s cooking kits - Thai gree curry.  All I need to add is...

...a cup of fresh veggies...

... 500gms meat - I like chicken but you could do beef, duck, pork....

This is the dried flavour mix of basil, kaffir lime and chillies.  I took out half the chillies.

I fried off the curry paste...

...added in the coconut milk, water and dried goods...

The veggies and chicken go in to poach away until tender.  After a taste, I decided to add 2 tspns brown sugar to sweeten it off plus zest of a lime and a squeeze of juice...

It was a very nice curry but on a warm, muggy night, it certainly had us sweating!   I think I’d use a but less curry paste next time (Marion does suggest this if you don’t like it hot).  I think these kits would be great for when we go camping - you can also get many other flavour kits in the range - just add fresh veg and a protein.

This is not a sponsored post, I just saw the kits in the supermarket and though I’d give it a go and I’m glad I did.

Where did that week go?...

I found this little dude in Target... $10 ... I couldn't just leave him there, could I?

I've promised Brianna I'll cook her a big cookie at Christmas time...

Now, Thursday was something else!  Tuesday it was warm, Wednesday it was 35C and muggy and Thursday it was ... 12C!!! It blew a gale and rained all day and it was freezing!  I do not know what is going on with our spring weather!

Chow mien to warm the cockles....

Santa admiring my blue jug and Bonica roses...

Waiting, waiting...I had to get a car wheel aligned in MtG so to kill time I visited Spotlight -yay! 50% off all Christmas fabric and notions.  I had lunch at a new to me place - Little Saigon.  Lots of lovely food in the cabinets so I'll be going back there.  It's hard to get a park in the main street when you want to get lunch so this place will be great.  Very good coffee and the ham and cheese sambo was delish too!

Friday morning, we had this mist...

I spied this saucer for sale on the Blue & White Obsession Australia Buy Sell Drool site.  I have a matching mug so it became mine!
Trialing sourdough again...

I bought this very nice loaf pan - it will be handy for break baking, potato bakes, pasta dishes...

-

These succulents are a bit of an obsession of mine...the display keep growing!  I buy one succulent and plant out the free babies...

I couldn't pass up this lovely bowl...

We're heading overseas next year and I am thinking something like these boots will be good for walking (not hiking)...

My Soul Sister rose...
Standard Bonica

Garden at our local Bowling Club...

Walking through our parklands this morning.  Green grass everywhere!
Cutting through the skate park.  We walked 3.33kms today and 3.28kms yesterday...The mornings are warm and I am a ball of sweat when I get home!

I made a batch of natural yoghurt this morning...

It'll be ready tonight...
What have you been up to?

A Christmas care package for our soldiers...

(Pic from Facebook)
So, this popped up on Facebook the other day and I thought it would be great to send a couple of care packages to our troops in the Middle East for Christmas.  I know it’s been going on for years but this is the first time I’ve seen the address pop up in front of me.

If you keep the parcel under 2 kg, Australia post send it free.
~

I bought two postage boxes (for a male and female) and then went shopping, having to fill each box but keep it just under 2 kg.  I chose food stuffs over toiletries as they are heavy and you wouldn’t get much in for 2 kg.

This is the tip of the iceberg as far as what you can put in there.  I just thought they’d like things that they haven’t tasted in a while.  A bit of fun!  I also added a pack of Twinings Australian Afternoon tea, a good pair of socks and an Aussie Christmas card, thanking the soldier for their service and a wish that they stay safe.
~

It all packed up well and I was just under the 2 kg mark.  Each box cost about $40 to put together

If you’d like to send a box of cheer, the cut off point is December 8th.

This week...

-

I’m trying to grow a new sourdough starter, with little success it would seem.  Patience, is what it takes, I am told.   Today is day 6 (this pic is day 3)...still waiting for good bubbles...

I had a great walk on Monday 13/11 but was so tires Monday night, I think I’ll peel it back a bit.

Tuesday, with Gus...

I’ll talk more about these goodies a bit later...

-

Oh, yum!  My moozli, grated apple, my yoghurt and a drzzle of honey...

It was 34C and muggy here yesterday.  Steak and salads hit the spot!

I’m being kind to my liver.  A morning cleanse - 30 mls cranberry juice...

...plus 60 mls fresh orange juice...

...and 90 mls of water.  Drink first thing in the morning.

I love where I live! A hot 34C yesterday, this morning it’s pouring rain and 20C!  Very refreshing!
