Australia Day 2016 ... Pt2

Oh, those Monte Carlo's! I was up early to make salads for our barbecue beach lunch and some lamingtons...

We had a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon...then we packed everything into the vehicles and headed to the beach.

When we got over to the coast, there was an eerie band of cloud over the sea...

The weather was perfect! Blue sky and no wind!

It takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to get to our spot...

This is No2 Rocks...

Denise and Lyn got into the spirit of Australia Day!

Of course we fly the Aussie flag...

We set up with lots of shade...

We started lunch with an entree of barbecued prawns 🦐...

Prawn cocktails!

Beach badminton...

Salads ready...

Lamb cutlets!

It doesn't get much better!

Then again, maybe it does!

Beach cricket...

Time to head home. We had such a great day! So lucky to live in this beautiful part of the world...

Australia Day 2016 ... Pt1

This Australia Day, we had visitors arrive from Melbourne to spend the weekend with us.

I saw a few people on Instagram making Monte Carlo biscuits so I whipped up a batch...

Iced and jam filled...

Bloody good!

Thursday evening we had barbecued beer can chicken with roast veggies...

Blueberry lemon cheesecakes...

A great finish to the day!

Drying rosebuds ...

As you know, I have been drying little rosebuds to decorate my homemade soap when I make some...

each morning I go and pick a bowl full...

I've done nothing to them but leave them in my study which get quite warm during the day. They're holding their colours quite well!

This is this mornings pickings!

Crayfish dinner...

Gus purchased two crayfish at Robe to have for dinner with our friends from WA.

Joy by name and joy by nature!

A beautiful sunset to end the day and take some of the heat away...

A loaf of chadd's bread...never fails.

Charles and Joy...

Dessert - mulberries in black raspberry liqueur, double cream, homemade vanilla bean icecream and jam syrup. Wow!

Mulberry jam ...

I had an offer to raid someone's mulberry tree yesterday, so I took up that offer!

It was laden with fruit ready for picking and lots more to come!

It is a messy business!

I made 1.5 kgs into jam and saved some of the best berries to have for dessert tonight.

I was given this Chambord Black Raspberry liqueur for Christmas...so I've sloshed a bit onto the mulberries. We'll have them with some homemade ice cream I also made.

We have visitors for dinner so I need to get cracking on a couple of salads...

http://myabundantlife07.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/creamy-pasta-salad.html and

https://theenglishkitchen.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/winter-fruit-salad-with-lemon-and-poppy.html

We are very lucky as Gus is bringing home 2 crayfish for us to have with these salads!

I'd better get a wriggle on as I need to make a loaf of bread too!
