Stewing...

...more lovely Granny Smith apples and fresh rhubarb. I just love the taste of these in winter.   Into the freezer they go!

  1. Okay you ate the opposite end of the world but you have rhubarb now in your fall? I just picked my first rhubarb today in early spring ( Canada). It just snowed on the weekend but rhubarb squares were made for supper desert.

  2. Yes, that's right! The rhubarb was given to me but the lady said her plant is flourishing. Our start of winter is June 1st, crazy hey?

    1. I get the season thing just the rhubarb seasonal thing threw me off. You learn something new each day. I made rhubarb squares yesterday. Our strawberries don't come into season until about third week in June. That said is has been a cold dry spring. Snow last weekend. Had to put more straw on the strawberries to keep them warm. Love rhubarb and strawberries together. Do you have a chest freezer or upright?

    2. I only have a small compartment at the bottom of our fridge in the kitchen and an even smaller compartment in a fridge which is our in our garage. I don't freeze a lot of stuff but I couldn't resist the apples and rhubarb. With just the two of us home now, I shop daily for our meals, buying just what we need. I have a few meals in the freezer for when I can't be bothered but not a lot of other stuff.
