Can't wait for the weekend!

Our parklands are stunning at the moment - late blooming roses and the brightest green manicured lawns...
~
~
Monday night Chow Mein for one...
~
Thoroughly enjoying the petit point - I steal 10 minutes here and there!

Remember those apples I was given?  I stewed them up...
~
I had to add sugar because they were eye-wateringly tart...
~
They cooked down beautifully...
~
Five tubs to go into the freezer - each one big enough for a pie for two!
~
Do you screen-shot things you find interesting? I save lots of things this way.  This curry will be dinner one night next week...
~
We have had some welcome rain overnight and today it looks like a bleak winters day. Yay! We are due for the break of the season.
~
Dinner tonight! Back on 5/4 i made a lasagne and threw it's twin in the freezer. Perfect Friday night dinner!
~
We are off to Halls Gap this weekend for the Grampians Grape Escape Food and Wine Festival.
Can.not.wait!
Cheers - Joolz xx

Anzac weekend...

Our new fireplace hasn't been finished so we couldn't light a fire in it yet ...
~
Good news for a girlfriend of mine - she received a bad result on her breast screen exam and had to go to Adelaide for further tests.  Luckily, it turned out to be some cysts but no cancer. I sent her off with some choc chip cookies and a banana bread.  I'm so pleased and relieved for her. She and husband are about to go overseas for 6 weeks so it was the last thing she needed!
~
Friday night we had both our babies home (and Kirby's boyf) so I threw a beef curry together, plus a kachumber salad...
~
yoghurt raita...
~
flatbreads...
~
...and banana sprinkled with lemon juice and black pepper.
~
~
I was gifted some rhubarb...
...granny smith apples and a dozen eggs from staff at work...
~
I made a delicious apple and rhubarb crumble for dessert.
~
Saturday morning I was up at sparrows, baking a batch of Anzac biscuits...
~
~
~
...and scones to take to a morning tea...
~
...for my Mum's 86th birthday.

Bri and Kirby with their Nana.

Later in the afternoon, Gus lit his fire pit and we sat around it with a few drinks...

Just chillin'...

I made this cob loaf dip...

Gus cooked this huge beef roast...
~
Sunday morning I made these Brookies - they're brownies, but cookies!
~
This morning Kirby and Nate went to the dawn service for Anzac Day. They said it was quite a big turnout which is good. I woke up with a sore throat so I didn't go.
~
April 24th was my big sister's 45th wedding anniversary. I was her little flower girl, aged 6.  Happy Anniversary, Marilyn and Brentley!
 ~
Today, our visitors headed back to Adelaide, including Gus as he has a car to deliver and a meeting on Wednesday.
I am enjoying the quiet and plan to have Chow Mein for dinner then an early night!
Cheers - Joolz xx

Sally is at it again...

I have been a bit neglectful of Sally in the past few weeks so I gave her a feed on Thursday thinking I'd do some baking on Saturday...
~
She was a bit sluggish but started to rally on Saturday afternoon...
~
I ixed up the dough later in the evening and let her do her stuff...
~
I've been wanting to try turning/flipping the dough during the rising so I got up and turned her a few times...
~
Not a great rise by this time of the moring so I left her to it...
~
That's better!
~

Plopped out on the bench...
~
I gave it a gentle knead then shaped it and cut it in half...
~
I shaped a loaf and 6 rolls...
~
~

~
I'm having  a bit of trouble with the slashing, the skin is rubbery...
~
But the results were still really good!
~

~
Gratuitous aerial shot...
