Flinders Ranges trip ... Days 3 and 4

Day 3 13/9/14
Our room at the Prairie Hotel. It is sunk into the ground to keep cool.
~
We had a beautiful brekky...
~
~
This is the arid landscape...we saw lots of emus...
~
Plenty of firewood...
~
Time to hit the dirt road and head for Parachilna Gorge...
~
This is the stunning creek bed in the gorge...
~
Our camp set up...
~
One thing we like to do is eat good food and it doesn't have to be 'camp' food all the time...
~
Bbq chicken caesar salad - a bag salad with all the ingredients, very easy!
~
~
My throne!
~
Dinner - steak with baked veggies (again, it was a pack already to roast), peas (remember 'Surprise Peas' - you can still get them!) and gravy.
~

Day 4 14/9/14

Poached eggs on crumpets...
~
Gus thought lunch sitting in the creekbed was a good idea. It was much cooler there and the flies were not as numerous!
Peking duck wraps? Why not!   We reheated the duck in a foil tray in the BabyQ and heated the pancakes in foil too.
~
~
Spot the emu! He wandered along towards us, pecking and feasting on the wild watercress in the creek...
~
It was a very relaxing day - we just sat there in the shade...
~
Time to light the Ozpig again. The weather has been fantastic, nice and warm, slight breeze and mild at night...
~
Dinner was a split, marinated chook, scallop potatoes and tossed salad...

  2. The creej looks lovely and a cool place to eat lunch. You certainly aren't eating camp food. :)
