Not sure what there is in Amarillo, we are only crossing the top bit of Texas but I guess we can sing ...
" When the day is dawnin'
On a Texas Sunday mornin'
How I long to be there
With Marie who's waitin' for me there.
Ev'ry lonely city where I hang my hat
Ain't as half as pretty as where my baby's at.

Is this the way to Amarillo?
Ev'ry night I've been huggin' my pillow
Dreamin' dreams of Amarillo
And sweet Marie who waits for me.
Show me the way to Amarillo
I've been weepin' like a willow
Cryin' over Amarillo
And sweet Marie who waits for me."
~
We will be driving Route 66 but how close we stick to it, I don't know.
~
Of course, there are lots of other things to see and do but these are just a few that I have on my bucket list.

  2. Oooh - fun.

For a completely over the top NY diner experience go to Ellen's Stardust Diner which is near Times Square. Very touristy and the waiters and waitresses sing. My kids loved it - so cheesy but so good and stacks of fun.

Bet you can't wait for your trip.

  3. My sister lives in Amarillo! It's about six hours from me. There's not much to see in my humble opinion. The Cadillac Ranch, I guess. They do have a pretty cool historic district and 6th Street has some great antique stores (vintage junk shops?) Wish you were going through San Antonio!

  4. I cant believe you haven't tried Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They sell them in the Reject Shop and I think Cheap as Chips on occasion.

Be warned that once you start you cant stop.
