Spruce up your Life...

(this is not me)
Starting from Tuesday this week, I dusted off my shoes and I have been walking at 6 o'clock each morning. It is dark when I start out but lightens up about 15 minutes later. I love walking through town, admiring peoples gardens.

There is a new fitness program that I am joining in my town. A fitness instructor in town is doing a TAFE course to become a Personal Fitness Trainer and part of her course is to run a community event regarding fitness. She has entitled it Spruce up your Life. She has 17 participants so far and for 7 weeks will meet at 9am on a Monday, do an exercise program and then listen to a guest speaker. She will also run an extra exercise program on
Thursdays. We have all been assessed and the course starts on October 17th. This is what we did yesterday in my lunch hour...

I arrived at Shez's and we aquainted ourselves. She popped me on the exercise bike to warm up and we chatted for 2 minutes about my goals and what I wanted out of this. What I got out of this was burning leg muscles!
~
Then she got me to do shuttle runs along her verandah for 2 minutes. In that time, I did 10 laps running and 5 laps walking. I am unfit! I thought I was going to pass out! Moving right along...

I caught my breath and then she showed me how to do modified push-ups. I did not do well with these either. My shoulder immediately started to burn but I did 4 good ones. That doesn't sound like many but... go ahead - you try it!

Ah, joy! Next is the Wall Squat. If you like burning thighs and calves, this is for you! I lasted 19 seconds!
~
Then the fun part - the scales! Her scales are tricky ones that, once she keys in your height in centimetres and your AGE, together with your weight it can tell you how much fat and muscle your body is made up of. Lets just say, I am 33.3% fat and not a whole lotta muscle! Lol! I was hoping the scales might spit out a low fat recipe that I could try for dinner but nope! I am the heaviest I have ever been so something has to give!
~After the weigh-in, out came the body tape measure. She took my bust, hips, waist and thigh measurements. Even she was impressed with my thigh measurements - I have chicken legs!

I was pooped when I got back to work but I am really looking forward to starting this program with like minded ladies, all looking to lose some weight, get fit along the way and have some fun!

I will be blogging my progess along the way.

  1. Sounds like a good program Joolz. Bet you will sleep well with all that exercise...Wish they had something like that here.

Good luck with it all, you will get there and it doesn't take long to get fit once you get started. You just feel like you are gonna die to start with!

A recipe guide would be a bonus, that part is hard to get right...
