Two years on...

Two years ago, on February 7, 2009 (see other posts under Bush fires also), Victoria was alight with the worst bush fires in our short history. 73 lives were lost and so many other lives were shattered that day. I hope they are on their way to rebuilding and healing.

This is that same Agapanthus 'Black Magic' that I pictured back then, this is its third summer and its growing well.
~
I made a bit of progress with my Dear Jane sampler. It is quite nice to
stitch because I can set myself a goal of finishing a 'wedge', as I call them, each time I sit down to it.

Since returning from Melbourne, I have been eating a healthy breakfast, Special K with skim milk and a banana - no sugar!
~
This was lunch last Thursday - very yummy!
~
I made sour dough bread rolls to go with Angus' Beer Can Chicken for Sunday night dinner.
~
I got out and dead-headed all of my roses - I was amazed that this was looked so healthy because I have really neglected them this summer.
~
I also de-cluttered a bit more, found the bottom of my laundry basket and generally took it easy. Nice.
~
Agapanthus at sunset last weekend - looks like a palm tree, don't you think?!
~
Enjoy the coming week - I think we are in for some odd weather - sunny 21C today, sunny 22C Tuesday, sunny 27C Wednesday then showers and 30C on Thursday (not happy about that, it's gonna get humid!) and cloudy and 27C on Friday and more rain on Saturday 26C.

  1. Yes, I feel for Victorians who got through that, and now are dealing with floods. Your flowers are beautiful. I always like your food pics - maybe you should become a food stylist for magazines? The weather is perfect for getting things done today. I'm having a quick coffe break then back into it.

    Cheers,

  2. I'm trying to remember when I was in Flowerdale last. There were pods near the hall, I only remember seeing one new house. I haven't been to Kinglake.

  3. I liked the photos in this post! And yes, the agapanthus do look like palm trees! Love the Dixie Chicks' Rainbow Connection too. So expected to hear Kermit's voice when the intro started!

  4. Joolz, it is so strange to read that you are in the summer in Australia. I guess thinking that on the other side of the world the weather would be different while we are still freezing here in the states. Well most of the states. You meal looks yummy! I was filled looking at lunch, I am not sure I could eat it all! So sad about the fires and I also hope that they are able to rebuild their lives to the fullest again. There is so much going on in the world isn't there....hugs and smiles, at least we can pass that along..
