Don't ya hate it when...

... you blow the bottom out of not one, but TWO jars of pasta sauce, just by sitting (dropping) them on the tiled kitchen floor...
~
All I did was sit the bag of groceries down on the floor (okay, I may have put it down hard) but something went CRRRAAACKK! Then the sauce exploded, SPLAAATT! out of the bag and onto the floor~
~
There are two jars of Dolmio Pasta sauce in there and both lids popped off and...
~
... the bottoms of both jars were blown out! I've never seen anything like it! Of course, everything else in the bag was in a cardboard box which got covered in tomato goo and had to be washed and went soggy and the boxes had to be thrown away and now I have unlabled goods in my pantry and...
~
... can you believe it? Once I got everything out I had about 1.5 litres of tomato goo plus some lovely sharp glass shards in the shopping bag. I didn't even attempt to recycle the bag, it all just went straight in the bin otherwise I would've ended up with a nasty cut on my hand, I'm sure. I've mopped and wiped and got the place clean again and thank goodness I had an extra jar of sauce in the pantry. Holy crap! Lucky it was on special for 2 for AUD$4.00!

  1. Yep, I hate that too, similar thing happened the other day, but it was milk, taking the screw top lid off, and it fell out of my hand, landed upright but very hard and would you believe it, out it all came just like a fountain, a real mess to clean up.

  3. Wow, what a mess you had to clean up. :( Did you happen to look at the expiration dates on the jars? Could they have been so easy to break/explode because they were going bad? Perhaps that is why they were on sale at a discount? I'm glad you didn't get cut by the glass.

    Best,
    Lois

  8. Good GRIEF! Sounds like absolute sabotage! I guess tile isn't forgiving at all. Very dramatic and, if you're like me, that's ALL I need in my life: MORE DRAMA!

  9. Oh dear! And I don't know about you, but when stuff like this happens to me, it's always when I'm really busy to begin with, and I have to stop everything else to clean up the mess. I feel for ya!

  10. I hate when that happens!! Glad that no one got hurt by the glass. I've started buying mine in cans, that way the kids don't break them. I prefer Tom's homemade stuff, but that hasn't happened in awhile here. Veggies and fruit are stinkin expensive here.

  11. it looks to me that the jars were bad to begin with! Just the way they broke looks as if they were defective! WOW! on sale? good reason to be on sale, I wonder how many others went home with someone and the same thing happened? LOL well we all got a good laugh out of it at your expense! LOL hugs...
