New Years Day 2010

Happy New Year to all!
This is how we spent New Years Day, 2010 - very much the same as we spent NYD 2009 - here.
~
We set up camp on a sheltered piece of Southend beach - lots of shade building went on so we were out of the sun.
~
Six families shared a lovely barbecue lunch, sitting, talking, laughing...
~
... playing petanque...
~
... lovely style, Gus!
~
... not sure who really won or if they were even scoring...
~
~
... kids dug holes and got buried in the sand, they swam in the icy cold sea ...
~
... the men folk talked and solved the problems of the world...
~
... the waves rolled in, the sun shone and the sky stayed bluest blue ...
~
... and finally, a late afternoon game of beach cricket... I preferred to stay under the shade, sipping a glass of wine while all this boisterous activity was going on... I think I had a snooze too!
~
Today, I plan to pack away the Christmas decorations. I have downloaded a Declutter Calendar from Beth Dargis at My Simpler Life (get the calendar from her sidebar) and hope to follow through it, doing one task a day. Some look really easy, others will take a bit more time.
~
On the health front, on Monday, I will start back walking each morning (I've had a week or so off) and will start back on the Throw Down eating whole, real foods. I have indulged in way too much party type foods since Christmas - dips, crackers, chocolates - so that must stop! The scales come out at 6am Monday morning!
~
Enjoy the weekend break before we embark on the 2010 work year on Monday.
~
Cheers - Joolz

  2. Hello Joolz
Happy New Year to you all - what a fabulous way to spend NYDay - with friends and family.
Also thanks for reminding me about My Simpler Life, its a site I used to frequent a while ago and then when my reader became topheavy I usubscribed, have missed it so will read it again. Like you I've downloaded the declutter calendar.
    Take care

  3. Hey Joolz! Our New Year's Day was very quiet! Spent the evening at a movie..then kissed in the New Year at midnight, bed at 12:10..up at...shamfully 9 am! and the rest of the day did NOTHING! Tomorrow the tree will come down and all the wonderful decorations put up for 11 more months! I wish I were at the beach! BRRRRR here! smiles across the miles...

  4. Lovely day! What a contrast though! You have sandy beaches sunshine and warm weather...we have a white world, snow glistening on ice in the sunshine...in any case,
    Happy New Year Joolz!
