Monday - What a stinker!!!

(Joolz pic)
We have endured another stinker of a day here - about 43C again. Kirby got the healthy cooking bug and knocked up these delicious Strawberry & Yoghurt muffins - recipe here from Taste.com.au

When the muffins came out of the oven she had these Apricot & Sultana Cookies ready to go in. These are just like a muesli bar, really chewy and delicious. Click here for the recipe at Taste.com.au

(Joolz kneading)
Even though it was a hot night, we made pizzas to cook in the Weber kettle BBQ. I make the dough in my bread maker then knead and roll as required.

This was one we cooked in our normal oven because, er, Angus built the fire in the Weber a liiiiittle too high and hot and ...

... this is what happened to our pizza stone! It self-combusted and destructed! It was too hot cooking outside anyway - at 10.30 it was still 32C! I heard that in Adelaide (our state capital city) it was 37C at midnight! Erk!

(Tues 12/01/2010)
Can you believe, after a very warm night that this is the rain we got this morning. A total of 13mls (half an inch in old imperial terms) up until lunch time. A much more comforable 23C today and 20C tomorrow (although it is still very humid).

Ahem ... please disregard the greenery that is growing among my straggly standard roses. Why do weeds do so well while plants struggle?

This is the view out my front window at 8am this morning. Looks like winter, feels like the sub-tropics!

Hope your having a good week,
Cheers - Joolz

  3. Oh, Joolz, those temps! I happily sit here in our wintertime. I'm happy to add another layer of clothes, but you can only take so many off without getting arrested. Also, I love that all the bugs and snakes are hibernating!

  5. Hi Joolz,
I was in Adelaide, 30 years ago at this time of year and it was that hot we couldn't sleep in our tents until well after midnight and the sun had driven us out again by 6.00am. Good thing I was only 16 and didn't need much sleep. Hope the weather cools for all of us soon.

  6. Thanks Joolz, I didn't think you guys got humidity down your way. I wish my Kirby could bake like your Kirby. But i guess I just have to be content with him laying around. As cats do...
