Cape Jaffa Seafood & Wine Festival...

The Cape Jaffa Seafood & Wine Festival is held on the second weekend in January each year. Click here to read more about this wonderful weekend.

Checking out the Land Rover display - New Discovery 4

The weather was extremely hot (about 43C) for the festival and I think this kept the crowd numbers down. Everyone was seeking shade so although you see empty seats in my pics, I think people were in tents or under shade elsewhere.
~
Out came the umbrellas to make as much shade as possible. There was a slight sea breeze blowing.
~
There was produce for sale and sampling. Lovely jams, chutneys, olive oil, fresh stuffed olives, lobster pate, seasoned almonds etc.
~
Outback Pride produce locally grown and made sauces, jams, chutneys, herbs, relishes, cordials from original Aboriginal bush tucker. Click here for details.
~
There were lots of wineries selling their lovely wines. You could either buy a tasting glass or a full bottle to enjoy. It was very hot in this tent!
~
Lots of empty seats in the sun - everyone trying to keep cool!
They had a guy singing live all day - he did covers or Michael Buble, Guy Sebastian, Fleetwood Mac etc. Lovely easy listening music - it didn't blow us out of our chairs! Lol!
~
There's that lovely Disco 4 again.

A quick plug!

Um, now I must explain why the local constabulary has his arm around me ... I had just done a random breath test ... and blew .08 !!! (Our laws state that you must be under .05 % blood/ alcohol to drive a vehicle so I would have lost my licence had I driven and got breatho'd). Lucky we were booked to go back to Robe on the bus that is provided to a lucky few!
The police set up their van and you could have a test to see what you blew. I think it's good to make you aware of drink driving at a venue like this. Well done, SAPOL!

Having said that we were booked to go home on the bus .... we missed it! Luckily our dear friend Alex's sister, Bernie volunteered to drive us back. Betty and I (above) had a lovely day sampling some great wines (Cape Jaffa Wines Sauvignon Blanc, CJ Unwooded Chardonnay, CJ Le Lune Rose de Syrah - a biodynamic wine, cultivated and harvested according to the phases of the moon.
~
Er, on our way home, Angus was getting a bit amorous! Down, boy!
~
Back in Robe, we stayed at Ann's Place, a very smart & comfortable B&B. The sea was like glass. I've never seen it to calm and flat. We had nibbles and drinks on our little patio.
~
As the sun set behind me, the bay took on lovely hues of pink over the mirror sea.
~
The big silver ball in this pic is a sea mine which washed up on shore many years ago. I've liked the Robe District Council site here for more information on Robe.
~
All in all, we had a lovely Sunday at the Festival, even though it was so hot.
