Winter blues...

These are some of the scones I made late yesterday. Delicious with jam & cream or butter and vegemite. I cheated with these - I bought CWA (Country Women's Association) scone mix. You get two batches in a box. Use one packet and add 280mls of water, mix together with a knife, knead on a floured surface, cut out and place on a lined tray, bake for approx. 10-12 minutes in a 200C oven. Voila! I can't tell them apart from my home made ones where I rub in butter to the flour. They are goooood!

Bri is home sick today with a bad cough. I kept her home from school because I wouldn't want someone coughing on her, like she is coughing. I don't think it is the flu, just a chest cold (maybe Porpy virus!). Warm bed and cough lollies are the order of the day.

  2. My hubby loves the cold so he likes the fact that you are having winter and would love to be there!

Your scones look just like my home made sour cream biscuits and I do like butter and jam on them!

    Hope your daughter feels better.

    blessings and hugs,

  3. My girls are sick atm. I must check their temperature, I think it is OK though.

Our twelve year old said she was going to make some scones last night at afternoon tea time and she did. I got out the homemade jam to make the homemade scones.

It is great it is a good mix, but I guess you would expect that. I was watching BHG a repeat on Austar where Ed is asked a lot about scones. I was disappointed with what he suggested. He admitted they were not what Grandma used to make so to speak.

  6. Glad Bri had the day at home. Forget her coughing on the other kids, it's nice to be able to rest and relax when you don't feel 100%. Your scones look good! (Not effusive enough I think. Great! Wonderful! Delicious!)

  8. Vegemite on scones???? New one on me! Think I'll stick to the cream and jam. Or sometimes we just have buter on them, which is specially good if they're still a bit warm from the oven.

    love, Angie, xx
