A Canadian book in Oz...

While visiting Niki's site, www.ruralwritings.blogspot.com I immediately recognised the book she had pictured.

I rummaged through my book cupboard and found the book. My S-I-L had given me this book when she returned from Canada (she nannied over there) in 1989, nearly 20 years ago. Fancy packing this huge book in her luggage!

Niki is looking for other copies of it so she can pass them on to her daughters as the book is out of print. Anyone in Canada got a copy they no longer want?

Having a flick thru it, I will try a few of the recipes and let you know how I get on.

Cheers - Joolz

  1. Isn't that funny, Joolz, that you would have a copy all the way over there! :)
There are so many favourites of mine in that book. The marble cheesecake is excellent. The Schnitzel, Stuffed Pork Tenderloin, and the lamb recipes to name a few. Also, the Harvest Soup and the Garlic Shrimp...oh I could go on..... :)

So kind of you to ask around for this cookbook for me!
    Blessings,
    Niki

  2. Hi Joolz

I just have to have a little vent where my daisyson17 won't see it!!! For months and months I have been urging him in the nicest possible way to put somehting down on a piece of paper to send to QTAC (qld tertiary admissions centre) but no the September deadline came and went.

After his last exam on Friday he decided it might be an idea worth considering - (as we had all had a turn gently trying to tell him that he really wasn't the apprentice type)

Well Yesterday it is DONE!!! Cost us $70 and about an hour and half but he has choisces. I have no idea whether he will get them his OP prediction is very low which is weird because he gets As and Bs in everything - but he has had some changes of subjects so maybe that went against him when the school was trying to work out a prediciton.

So fingers crossed. He has asked for external courses which I think is great he can study by distance ed and still work until he really decides which way he wants to go. I am so so pleased.

  3. Hi Joolz!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I looooooove to catch up with SA blogs! I also love to "talk" (email) to SA bloggers, thanks so much for commenting.

Now, before you beat yourself up too much about my output versus yours, let me tell you that I don't work outside of the home. I think that would make doing anything else beyond being a wife and mother really difficult. Let's face it, you have two fulltime jobs! I also have an extra advantage because my husband works from home and helps me out too so that I have time to devote to sewing. (He thinks that the family runs much better when I get to follow my passion, I am lucky.)

I have really enjoyed looking at your blog and will be back! (We South Aussie's gotta stick together!) You have posted already so many times in November. I am impressed! Have a great week!
